چکیده

Visible images are usually merged with midrange infrared images for surveillance enhancement or for non visual tasks like face recognition. The IR images contain information that is not the same as in the visible range images. We test fusion of near infrared images with visible spectrum images for detail enhancement and contrast highlighting using several quality metrics. It is shown that computationally light fusion methods can be utilized for visual enhancement. PCA based approach produces promising results for low ambient light images merged with flash near infrared images.

Fusion of Thermal Infrared and Visible Images Based on Multi-scale Transform and Sparse Representation

Due to the differences between the visible and thermal infrared images, combination of these two types of images is essential for better understanding the characteristics of targets and the environment. Thermal infrared images have most importance to distinguish targets from the background based on the radiation differences, which work well in all-weather and day/night conditions also in land s...

Modeling the potential of Sand and Dust Storm sources formation using time series of remote sensing data, fuzzy logic and artificial neural network (A Case study of Euphrates basin)

Due to the differences between the visible and thermal infrared images, the combination of these two types of images leads to better understanding of  the characteristics of targets and the environment. Thermal infrared images are really in distinguishing targets from the background based on the radiation differences and  land surface temperature (LST) calculation. However, their spatial resolu...

Combining Visible and Near-Infrared Cues for image Categorisation

Standard digital cameras are sensitive to radiation in the near-infrared domain, but this additional cue is in general discarded. In this paper, we consider the scene categorisation problem in the context of images where both standard visible RGB channels and near infrared information are available. Using efficient local patch-based Fisher Vector image representations, we show based on thorough...

Wavelet-Based Visible and Infrared Image Fusion: A Comparative Study

This paper evaluates different wavelet-based cross-spectral image fusion strategies adopted to merge visible and infrared images. The objective is to find the best setup independently of the evaluation metric used to measure the performance. Quantitative performance results are obtained with state of the art approaches together with adaptations proposed in the current work. The options evaluate...

Airborne Infrared and Visible Image Fusion for Target Perception Based on Target Region Segmentation and Discrete Wavelet Transform

Infrared and visible image fusion is an important precondition of realizing target perception for unmanned aerial vehicles UAVs , then UAV can perform various given missions. Information of texture and color in visible images are abundant, while target information in infrared images is more outstanding. The conventional fusion methods are mostly based on region segmentation; as a result, the fu...
